Golghar is located on the western side of Gandhi Maidan in Patna, the capital of Bihar province. This is done when around one crore people died of starvation in 1770 during a severe drought. When the Governor-General Warren Hastings planned to build the Golghar, the British engineer Captain John Garstin began manufacturing this round-shaped soda for the storage of Anaz. (For the British Army) on 20 January 1784. Its construction was completed on 20 July 1786 under the British Raj. It can hold about 140,000 tonnes of grain simultaneously.
Its size is 125 meters and height is 29 meters. It has no pillar and its walls are 3.6 meters thick in the base. Stones have been used in place of brick for about three meters at the summit of Golghar. A hole two feet 7 inches in diameter at the top of the Golghar was left to pour the grain, which was later filled and closed. The best and Manmohan view of Patna city is Golghar.

How to reach Golghar

Golghar is located near Gandhi Maidan in Patna, and you can take an auto-rickshaw to reach it. To come from the bus stand, you have to take a taxi and a tempo, the government bus stand is located to the north of Gandhi Maidan, from there you can also come on foot, Golghar is located about 1 a kilometer, and from there you can share. You can also take a tempo or hire a taxi.
